Creamy Avocado and Banana Smoothie (AKA McDreamy)

This is the creamiest, most dreamy smoothie you could ever have for breakfast. I should call it McDreamy - actually I just did. I’m really quite glad I ran out of blueberries and was forced to try this delightful combination. Of course, I won’t forever stop adding blueberries to my breakfast smoothie, it’s just quite nice to have a change every now and then. I do love good ole bleubs and I will enjoy their antioxidant packed goodness again. But, for now I’m very content with my monounsaturated packed avocado and banana smoothie to power me through my morning. It’s perfect to kick off avocado season too. Maybe I’ll try a banana and blueberry smoothie with a good scoop of avocado – now that that would be a nutrient packed party!

Using frozen banana makes this smoothie more like instant ice cream but for breakfast. It’s brilliant eaten with a spoon out of a cup. It’s like a decadent breakfast that’s entirely good for you! I hope it brings a smile to your face just as much as it has to mine – standing at the bench, spoon in hand with a cup of creamy breakfast deliciousness. For some reason, I just love eating it standing up - or sitting on the floor. Weird I know, but it tastes darn good!

Creamy Avocado and Banana Smoothie (AKA McDreamy Smoothie)

  • 1 banana, sliced into rounds and frozen

  • ½ avocado

  • 1 Tbspn black chia seeds

  • ½ tsp cinnamon

  • ¾ cup almond milk (or soy or cows milk)

  • 1 Tbspn toasted nuts and seeds or homemade muesli to serve

  1. Place all of the ingredients into a high-powered blender or Nutri-bullet and process until everything is combined and you have creamy mixture like soft ice cream. You may need to scrap down the sides mid-way through and then blend again.

  2. Scoop the mixture into a cup and top with a tablespoon of toasted nuts and seeds

Enjoy!

Gluten-free, Dairy-free (with almond or soy milk), Nut-free (use toasted seeds on top instead of muesli)
